Bitvavo coins offering expands substantially

Want to know which crypto were listed last? Then continue reading the latest Bitvavo listing developments here. Bitvavo, which has been operating since May 2017, is an Amsterdam-based crypto exchange with over 1 million active users. Bitvavo’s goal is to bridge the gap between fiat money and crypto with a ‘one stop shop’ format with cheap prices and a reasonable diversity in coins. The crypto market and the technology that drives crypto has developed at lightning speed in recent years, resulting in more and more crypto coins and tokens being launched. However, the number of coins Bitvavo offered for several years has been around 60 coins and the addition of those new coins at Bitvavo remained off. Competitors like Bitladon and Coinmerce had a big advantage because of this and were therefore able to distinguish themselves relatively easily for a long time by offering more coins than Bitvavo.

Why does Bitvavo need to list more coins?

There are several reasons why a crypto provider like Bitvavo needs to list more coins. As mentioned earlier, one of the reasons is to keep up with the market development and be ahead of the competitors. New crypto projects receive a lot of attention and investors want to go along with the hype and buy in early. When you don’t add these new coins as a crypto provider, you miss customers, you miss trades, and you ultimately miss revenue.

Another reason, perhaps the most important, is the demand to add coins from the users at Bitvavo and the pressure from potential users who want to trade at Bitvavo when they add the requested crypto. If you check the feedback on Trustpilot and on social media like Twitter and Facebook, the question often keeps coming back when Bitvavo will support more coins.

Bitvavo lists stablecoins

After 1.5 years of silence, there was light at the end of the tunnel in late December ’20. Indeed, Bitvavo announced it was going to list three stablecoins. It concerned these stablecoins:

  • Dai (DAI)
  • USD Coin (USDC)
  • Tether (USDT)

The stablecoins can be traded against euro (€) pairs DAI/EUR, USDC/EUR and USDT/EUR. As these stablecoins are linked to the exchange rate of the US dollar ($) there is little to no profit to be made. It therefore seems that Bitvavo is preparing to expand the trading pairs in the future, where it will soon also be possible to trade bitcoin and altcoins against the added stablecoins. Time will tell.

Bitvavo refreshes offerings in February with new coins

In mid-February ’21, Bitvavo came out with the news that many users were eagerly waiting for. Bitvavo is expanding its coin offering with 28 different crypto’s! Refreshing the coin offering was much needed to attract new users to the platform and keep up with the competition. By doing with the following crypto:

Aave (AAVE), Augur (REP), Balancer (BAL), Band Protocol (BAND), Chiliz (CHZ), Compound (COMP), Decentraland (MANA), DFI.Money (YFII), Fetch.ai (FET), Gnosis (GNO), iExec RLC (RLC), Kyber Network (KNC), Loom Network (LOOM), Maker (MKR), Numeraire (NMR), Orchid (OXT), Origin Protocol (OGN), Ren (REN), Reserve Rights (RSR), Storj (STORJ), Sushi (SUSHI), Swipe Token (SXP), Synthetix (SNX), Tellor (TRB), UMA (UMA), Uniswap (UNI), UTRUST (UTK) and yearn.finance (YFI).

The added coins, which can be traded against the euro (€), were received with loud applause by users and the crypto community. The number of coins Bitvavo then offered rose from 62 to 90 different ones. Still, it was not enough. Competitors such as Coinmerce and Bitladon have a larger and more current crypto offering, due to Bitvavo’s failure to add current and new crypto. However, Bitvavo is cheaper than its competitors when you compare prices on our price comparison page. Haven’t created an account with Bitvavo yet? Then switch providers today and you won’t have to pay trading fees up to € 1,000.- in the first week.

August Bitvavo coin listing month

After the news of February ’21, things remained quiet around Bitvavo coins and their addition. Until early August ’21 when Bitvavo came out with the following news:

“we realized that while users are now satisfied with our customer support, most of the feedback is about the range of digital assets we currently have on offer. To remedy this situation and continue to provide the best service we can, we’ve decided to go forward with new asset listings.”

And so action was taken! August ’21 became a month in which Bitvavo worked explosively to add new coins to its product range. In order to get the new coins added as quickly as possible, it is important to know that for now it is only possible to trade the new coins. Functionalities to deposit, withdraw and staking coins are not yet possible. These functionalities will be added later.

Exchange lists new coins DOT, SOL, MATIC, DOGE and BNB

In the first week of August, Bitvavo listed one new coin every day, tradable against the euro (€). According to the crypto exchange, these were the five most requested coins:

  • Polkadot (DOT)
  • Solana (SOL)
  • Polygon (MATIC)
  • Dogecoin (DOGE)
  • Binance Coin (BNB)

Bitvavo had 86 coins in its range, after a few crypto were removed from the platform. The additional crypto increased the number of coins from 86 to 91 different ones. But it did not stop there, as the following was mentioned at the end of the announcement:

We will be listing more assets throughout the month of August. We recognize that the choice of assets and opportunities we offer is a core feature of the digital economy, and we look forward to expanding our platform to become an even wider and better bridge between the traditional and digital economies.

A strong statement which you couldn’t see reflected in the offerings over the past ‘years’. While users still had stress about which crypto to invest in, Bitvavo came up with a new announcement just two weeks later: “10 new assets on Wednesday, August 18“.

Bitvavo portfolio to be expanded August 18 with 10 new coins

The range of coins at Bitvavo is getting richer and richer. Finally, many users will say. After the successful listings of five new crypto two weeks ago, Bitvavo is further expanding its offerings. In the week of August 18, no less than 10 new coins were listed to the trading platform. Bitvavo listed Filecoin (FIL), Algorand (ALGO), Avalanche (AVAX), The Graph (GRT), Kusama (KSM), PancakeSwap (CAKE), Axie Infinity (AXS), Helium (HNT), Shiba Inu (SHIB) and FTX Token (FTT) and can be traded against the euro (€). This came as an unexpected gift, as many users continued to insist on being able to trade their favorite crypto. After the new additions, the total number of crypto risen to 101. But it didn’t stop there, as Bitvavo announced the following in their blog:

Over the next few weeks, we will be adding more than 60 new assets to our platform. This week we will start the process with 10 new assets on Wednesday, August 18.

Once all 60 new coins have been listed and the deposit, withdrawal and staking functions are fully functional, Bitvavo users will have little to complain in terms of offerings! The price will not be an issue, because for all price comparable coins, Bitvavo is the cheapest. You want to earn money, so it’s nice if you can buy for cheap, right? Now that 30 more crypto are going to be added to the platform in September, it is speculating which ones it will be. Looking at which coins the competitors are offering and which of them are fairly well known, we expect that the following coins will at least be listed at Bitvavo:

The other 20 remains a mystery. Wednesday, September 1, ’21 we will know more which crypto will be listed when. Want to know more about Bitvavo, like costs and contact? You can find that and more on our dedicated info page.
