Welcome CoinCompanions, corona is still holding grip on the world and it is not letting go! Markets crash, countries and cities are being locked down and the chances are big that we have to deal with the virus in 2021 as well. One of the social side affects of the pandemic is called (the rise of) TikTok. TikTok is an app to make short videos and mostly doing dance ‘challenges’, where (bored) people are spending their time on, instead of Facebook or Instagram. In the 2nd week of July crypto meme Dogecoin became famous on the viral video platform. But, what do TikTok and Dogecoin have in common? Well, nothing actually. A couple TikTokkers (active users on the platform), who are interested in investing, stumbled upon the ‘cheap’ crypto with the thought of the formula ‘buy x shilling to € 0.01 = to the moon and sell’! So the encouraging challenge started, video after video, share after share, hyped users and viewers of TikTok start buying the crypto. The price nearly doubled from € 0.002179 to € 0.004293.

Of course, after the ‘rally’ of four days the price declined hard as early buyers sold their part, leaving a lot unexperienced buyers with overvalued Dogecoin in their bag. It was a classic social media orientated pump and dump.
If you are new to crypto investing, please do some research and do not let hype and your emotions take over.
What wasn’t a pump and dump is the high gain on bitcoin that started on the 25th of July with a 2020-high in July of € 9711.96. One of the biggest reasons of the gain was that tech stocks are too expensive, silver and gold already had big gains where gold has reach an all time high, which made it interesting for investors to put their money in bitcoin as a safe haven. As of writing the current average buy price on CoinCompare is steady around the € 9600.-. Let’s hope the rise continues.

In June we decided to change our TLD .cc and move to a more convenient one. After some research we agreed with .eu and started moving in July. The movement has been finalized on functional level for our website. But, it could that some search results in Google still show the extension .cc. It takes time to refresh all the ‘old’ links with the new ones. A .cc link is still functional as it shall re-direct to the .eu. If you encounter any issues please contact us here.

Best deal provider of the month
Here are the best deal providers of the month July. Over the past month 13 providers with 176 comparable crypto’s and 352 buy and sell prices are monitored to come to the following result:
Bitladon! Adding four new crypto, removing three and lowering their VIP 1 fee from 2% to 1.5%, Bitladon is again CoinCompare’s number three with 64 entries and a 18.18% share in July . Their recent fee reduction did not result in significantly higher entries. It is still one of the highest fees among the providers on CoinCompare. To get more discount you have to trade more than € 1.000.- within 30 days to get to VIP 2. Only than a fee of 1% shall be settled. Keep in mind that some competitors handle a fee of 1% or less at the start. Do your research of which provider suits best.
Bitvavo! To get equal or ahead of competition Bitvavo finally launched their exchange app on the 2nd of July for iOS and Android .
To celebrate the launch you could trade up to € 1.000.- a day on the app and didn’t have pay for any trading fees over July. The app looks great, is simple, fast, user friendly and what we especially like is that it supports dark mode. Also the user access with pin code log-in is very efficient in compare to e-mail log-in. Great job on the app . Steady holding the silver with 110 entries and a total share of 31.25%
Coinmerce! Not a lot of listing activity, as behind the scenes we know that Coinmerce is busy with design updates and their new upcoming functionality Swaps. With Swaps the trader has the option to trade crypto vs. crypto. A good addition to the platform! By adding Elrond (ERD) and Ren (REN) Coinmerce made the prices of those crypto comparable against the prices of Bitladon. Of course Coinmerce with the best deal prices. With 144 entries and a 40.90% share, it is at Coinmerce you want to be for the best deals in general, as they are again the number 1 Best deal provider on CoinCompare .
The best deal provider of the month is determined independently with the average of cumulating snapshots of buy and sell prices of all the best deals that are shown on our homepage. Logically, the larger the variety of crypto offered, the most chance of becoming the winner. In the end it is still the price of the crypto that matters as it has to be comparable. Discounts in Tiers and VIP levels are not included in the calculation. As deals change several times a day, due to the volatility of prices, the provider with the best deal can therefore change as well. Due to that fluctuation we take two snapshots per day to the determine the provider for that day with the most entries on our price comparison page.
